Why We Chose LLCA
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. As the time approached for Grant to attend school, we prayed over where God would send Grant. We wanted Grant to spend his school day not only learning the required academia but we wanted it to be a Christ-centered learning and an environment where he would feel loved and respected. It wasn’t long before we saw that Lindsay Lane Christian Academy was opening. After attending the first open house, we had a very good feeling it was the right place for our family. We came back for every open house…mostly because we were just that interested!! Once we met Mrs. P, we left saying – “she is the teacher for Grant!” She is so upbeat and excited about what she teaches the children. It is easy to see why they love going to school each day. For us, attending LLCA was a purposeful decision to allow Christ into Grant’s entire day.
It is hard to put into words why we chose LLCA, because we really feel that God led us to this school and we have loved every minute of it. An easier question to answer would be why have we chosen to re-enroll! We have chosen to re-enroll because Grant does learn about our Lord Jesus Christ every single day. The same Christian values we teach at home are reinforced at school and taught in a loving way. There are also the not so little reasons, like: · Mrs. Edgemon greets the children when they arrive almost every morning and on the mornings she can’t, she stops by their classrooms. Grant sees her every single day. · Mrs. P does exciting and sweet things with the class – for example, in casual conversation with a student, she learned he likes world flags so she worked that into a lesson…just for him!! She cares about each child that much. · The older kids help the younger kids at lunch time and they enjoy it – and it makes my son feel really special. · The kids learn so much more than basketball during P.E. · We have really exciting field trips and when we do school events, it feels like a family event! · Grant cries if he cannot attend school. My favorite story is when we had gone to the doctor one morning when Grant had been sick the whole weekend and the doctor said Grant could not go to school and Grant started to cry. The doctor said, “Wow, this must be some special school.” Grant simply responded, “It is.” He really loves his school and so do we.

Confessions of a LLCA Parent By Suzanne Johnson
I have heard all my life that God works in mysterious ways. Never has this been truer than what has occurred in my family in the last 5-6 years. In 2004 or so when Brother Dusty was talking about his vision for a new children’s building and the eventual creation of a Christian school, I was adamantly opposed. Not only was I opposed, I was vocal about my opposition. Boy, was I wrong!
Now fast forward to the first week of August, 2009. Floyd and I have spent all summer discussing where our children, Callie and Caleb, will attend school this year. We have crossed many bridges in the past 5 years. Hearing problems and learning challenges for Callie. Migraine headaches, tummy upsets, and abundant energy for Caleb. These issues have led us to contemplate a change. Low and behold, we are now considering sending our children to the very school that Brother Dusty dared to envision all those years ago. Thank God we did!
This school year has been filled with blessings beyond belief for our children. The first blessing we recognized was the smiles on our children’s faces at the end of the school day. They quickly realized they were loved, cherished, and appreciated for the creatures that God created them to be. The environment at LLCA is one of the most positive I have ever witnessed. Love is abundant and shared on a regular basis. It was awesome the first time Caleb said, “Aaah!” when he realized he didn’t have to go to school because of a holiday.
One of the greatest blessings we have received is the recognition by the teachers that not every child learns using the same teaching methods. Callie now has confidence in her own ability to ferret out information, retain it for a test, and glow in her success or learn a life lesson from a setback. Watching her at Dauphin Island Sea Lab this past week was a blessing in and of itself. Her enthusiasm, energy, and inquisitiveness were apparent for all to see. She even dissected a squid!
As the school year is coming to a close, Floyd and I look back and are so thankful for the opportunity to send our children to this school, Brother Dusty’s vision, LLCA. The most important question in our children’s minds recently has been, “Where are we going to school next year?” Our answer of LLCA brings huge smiles to their faces and satisfaction to our hearts. Thank God for His mysterious ways and His willingness to forgive my selfish opinions. Even before this year reaches a close, we look forward to next year and the blessings it will bring for our children.
“Why We Chose Lindsay Lane Christian Academy?”
My husband and I spent a lot of time praying about our decision on Lindsay Lane Christian Academy. Lee and I wanted our son, Jesse, to have the best education possible, but we also wanted him to learn about Jesus Christ. There were many things that influenced our choice, but in a nutshell, we sent him to L.L.C.A. out of faith, hope, and love. We believe God has entrusted our child to us for a short time as he matures. We sent Jesse to a Christian school out of love for God and love for him. We have been more than happy with L.L.C.A, and Jesse tells me almost everyday how much he loves his school. We know in our hearts that we made the right choice, God led us to L.L.C.A. If you have ever worked with the faculty at L.L.C.A or the church, you know they are all so wonderful. At L.L.C.A, they seek to love God with all their hearts, with all their strength, and with their entire mind. We love God, we love our child, and we love having the privilege of sending him to a Christian school like Lindsay Lane Christian Academy.
